Sun, Jan 31st

We both watched the Australian Open from Melbourne this morning, both hoping that Andy Murray could defeat Federer and become Britain's first men's grand slam winner in 70+ years. Sadly, as with the US Open two years ago, Mr Murray fell short and lost in three sets. Oh well, he still has Wimbledon to look forward to in July!

The rest of the day was spent as usual with Dawn doing her chores and me in the kitchen. I made some cherry brandy fruit cake cookies, a large saucepan of chili using soya mince instead of mince meat, and enough Ratatouille (also from a Delia book) for the next couple of nights.

Dawn also had her weekly video call with Brady and I called Dad to check on him.
